This is a current picture of my magenta buddleia buzz. I know it flowers on new growth and I would like to keep it not too much larger than it is now by the time it flowers. How much would you prune it back by? I'm worried if I take it too far back I'll loose the 'bushiness'. Is the right time to prune it now? Worth giving it a feed yet?

Thanks in advance (North East Wales)

Cut hard back in March to two or three buds from the base ... leaving it longer will encourage it to become leggy which is the opposite of what you want.

Feed after pruning.
